Dr. Susan Marchant-Haycox was educated at University College London where she obtained a BSc (Hons) and a PhD in Psychology, and at City University London where she completed an MSc in Health Psychology.
Over many years she has given psychology lectures and presentations on cross-cultural relations to a wide range of top universities and organisations in England (Birkbeck College, University of London; Richmond, the American International University, American InterContinental University, and the Far East (Malaysia) where she also organised articulation agreements between numerous universities.
Dr. Marchant-Haycox has arranged and accompanied university students on study tours to many countries (e.g. South Africa, Hong Kong and Japan). On these visits students had the opportunity to attend presentations given by prominent heads of industry in local and international companies (e.g. advertising agencies, tourist boards, Chambers of Commerce and airlines), and take part in cultural activities extending their knowledge of highly diversified countries. Moreover Dr. Marchant-Haycox has successfully recruited students from foreign countries (through education fairs and presentations at top universities) to study in England.
Apart from being actively involved in academia, Dr. Marchant-Haycox has worked throughout the mass media, appearing on television (BBC; CNN, Anglia Television), radio (BBC national (Radio 4) and local radio stations) and has either written for, or quoted in national and international newspapers (e.g.,Daily Mail, The Sun, Times, Sunday Telegraph, Financial Times, Independent, Daily Mirror) and magazines (Marie Claire, Top Sante, Grazie, Women's Health, Elle, Cosmopolitan,). She also worked as a Press Officer to an international impresario in the music industry, produced, written and edited in-house magazines (Drake International) and has been extensively involved in public relations and advertising.
Dr. Marchant-Haycox's highly informative and fascinating presentations on etiquette equip clients with the essentials of table manners, forms of address and suitable attire for all occasions. They enable clients to feel at ease in unfamiliar environs and learn important social graces that are so important to the 'class conscious' English.
After travelling to over thirty countries and observing local customs and attitudes, has allowed Dr. Marchant-Haycox to paint on a large canvas on a global arena. She stresses that knowing what to do, where and when, can save clients from committing faux pas and embarrassing themselves and others. Furthermore, these presentations, emphasise why it is vital to understand etiquette in order to 'fit' in with host cultures and prevent unnecessary conflict, caused through ignorance. It can facilitate business deals and aid in the networking process.
